Week 5:
We finally were able to use the puppets to act out the story.  There were many of each character but we had wonderful fun.  The music for each character was played during their part of the story.  You will see these puppets come home.  I am also sending home a note with the website with the music and story from this activity.  They may do it at home for you!

Week 4:
Each child choose a picture of one of the characters in the story They colored the character and cut them out to paste on a paper bag for a puppet.  These will be used to act out the story  during the next class period.

Week 3:
We began by listing the charcters we learned about last time and watched the rest of the story.

Week 2:
This week we learned about some characters in a musical story called "Peter and the Wolf."  We heard the instruments that were used to represent each character.  The video showing these characters and their instruments was started.

Week 1:

August 27:  This week was a get-to-know-you week in class.  I told them a little about myself.  We also talked about the expectations of the class:

• Do your best
• Respect everyone and everything
• Make an effort not an excuse
• Work cooperatively
• Excellence will be rewarded

I also had a chance to begin to learn all the new names and faces.  We sang the "Willowby, Wallowby" song to help me get to know their names.  by the end of class I could say their names without looking at the class list.  The next time I will see them will be on September 7 and I am sure I will need a little refresher by then.  This will be an on-going process but I will be working on it.

Week 2:
September 10th:  I believe I am getting to know the students names.  We took the first few minutes to review and then I took a little quiz to try and remember their names.  I also had them move to new spots to test my memory even further.  I think it is coming!

We are beinging the story of "Peter and the Wolf" and we looked at pictures of the characters in the story and the instruments that are used to represent each character.  We also were able to hear the sound of the instrument as it played each characters tune.  Next time we will watch the story unfold.
